Before that, we had a great Tucson-y dinner at Brooklyn Pizza on 4th Ave. I consumed a good amount of garlic knots and Nimbus pale ale. Good times!

Today my family drove up to Goodyear, AZ to visit my grandmother, uncle and his wife. We had an excellent lunch and a good visit. This is the ramada over the porch at my uncle's house. The graceful curve was just begging to be photographed.
I used Lightroom to straighten the lines and blue-en (?) the sky. I also lowered the contrast to give an overall smoother look. In other words, I smoothened it.

Merry Christmas! I hope your day was good. We hosted my family at my mother-in-law's house and it went well, we all had a great time and were thoroughly stuffed!
This camera toss photo is of my parents' Christmas tree. I turned all the other lights around the tree, set the camera to 2s self timer and 1s exposure, and tossed away. Out of 36 shots, this was the closest to a spiral, which I think is neat. Most of them were boring straight-ish lines.

I'm working to take portraits of friends and family at f/1.4 this winter break, to help me improve my portrait skills. Of course, f/1.4 isn't always the best, but I wanted to have a theme :)

I did some more exploring today, this time heading East from Tucson and eventually ending up at Pearce, which had 1500 people in 1920 and 15 in 2000. I had originally planned on visiting several ghost towns but didn't have the time or a proper vehicle to drive on "primitive" roads. I had a great time though, seeing some interesting and beautiful parts of the state that I'm not very familiar with. Many areas I drove through had snow from last night's storm.
This particular ruin was just a small room - maybe it was a shed? As you can see, a good portion was missing, and the rest will probably collapse soon enough. I used fill flash so the inside of the room wasn't all black.

Today I drove South to Sonoita and stopped at the Empire Ranch, which has a bunch of old buildings that you can visit. This sink was in the cowboy's quarters, built around 1871. Apparently it's still a working ranch, but the historic buildings have been turned over to the BLM, and most of them are being repaired so they don't collapse.
It's pretty neat, and the area is beautiful. I'll try and post more pics later. I took a lot of shots, but this one was my favorite.

Took this shot during a short hike in Saguaro NP. I'm not uploading it until super-late because my siblings and I were in Phoenix watching the Suns/Cavs game. The Suns lost, but it was fun to see Nash and LeBron play. We thought it would be fun to see Shaq play, too, but he barely did anything.

Straight out of the iPhone shot of a single light bulb on a string of many. Tonight is my last night in LA for a while, I fly to Tucson tomorrow to be with family for Christmas. I have some fun photo excursions planned, so expect some cool shots. My wife and I will drive back on 1/31 or thereabouts.
