There were hundreds upon hundreds of sandpipers at the beach today, and I got this in-motion photo of a small fraction of them as they ran away from an incoming wave. The group behavior was mesmerizing.
This is a great capture of these birds--Sanderlings. They are distinctive with their behavior of feeding near the edge of the surf, and then running, en masse, away as the waves come in. I've photographed them before, but never got the group effect this way. Love it.
