This was taken from a hike at Point Mugu State Park along the Scenic Trail, which was probably not named on a morning like this one. We weren't too torn up about not being able to see the horizon, and it was a very interesting hike. The whole area burned in the Springs Fire from just a few months ago, and the entire hike we did was through the charred remains of manzanita and other chaparral plants. Of course, periodic fire is expected and important to the ecosystem here, and it was already starting to come back - most of the manzanitas had bright green and red leaves coming up around the base, and we saw numerous inflorescences (look it up) on yucca plants that had clearly grown since the fire came through.
