Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

For today's desperation shot, I grabbed something interesting from the kitchen - a Microplane grater. I held the grater in front of my SB-800 at full power, using the smallest aperture available to get the stars. I got the grater wet, but the water wasn't staying in the holes, so I rubbed some soap on it so the moisture would "stick". You can see the bubbles in a few of the holes.

Tonight we gathered at the Westwood Brewing Company after work for a going away party for one of my coworkers (luckily he's not going too far). Here he is, about to chow down on a delicious burger.
I'm pretty impressed with the quality of slow-sync flash on my compact camera. I didn't realize you could even do that with the SD400 until very recently. Like most bar/restaurants it was pretty dark, so I had to get creative if I wanted an interesting exposure.

I was working today in a room affectionately known as The Dungeon and noticed this industrial fan, made by Airmaster Fans. I like industrial fans, they have an old, but powerful look to them. Edited mostly in Lightroom, then moved over to Photoshop to apply the radial blur.

This started out as experimentation with my SB800. I used a green gel filter and lit my face from the left, bouncing it off a wall. At first I wanted to play with the strobe effect, but that turned out to be too much of an undertaking. I did learn, however, that my D80 can do repeating flash with the built-in flash, neat!
For the color in this shot, all I did was selectively desaturate all colors except green and yellow, nothing was added. Oh and yes, I don't really have much in the way of eyebrows. I'm special that way :)

![_03/01/09_ Giraffe Closeup
Went to the LA Zoo today and got some nice shots of the giraffes and a few other animals. It was nice, but pretty hot, although I left around noon. Although it's edited a bit, I'm proud to say this photo is not cropped at all, I was able to get in super-close. I honestly wasn't expecting the giraffes to be my best subjects, usually the chimpanzees put on a good show. It was fun though, it's always nice to see the animals. I'll post some more shots in my critters gallery when I get a chance.
