Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

This is not a hallway.
These are about 20 metal bookends all stacked together next to a window. Using my compact, I was able to stick the lens into the 'tunnel' they created and compose this photo. Ah, the wonderful things you find in a library...

Nothing much to explain, just the root-end of a red onion. Special thanks to my voice-activated light stand wife. She held the softbox over the onion so I was free to hold the camera and not have to set up a tripod.

Today I did not have the pleasure of photographing sea creatures, so I went for this staircase near the bus stop instead. I like how the light changes between the first flight and the rest. I did all sorts of adjustments in Lightroom to get the look you see here.

Yep, that's what it is! There were several green anemones in the touch pool, but only one had a brilliant blue color around the mouth.
I took this photo at the annual photographer's night at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. For this shot, I got in real close with my macro lens and used the light provided by my off-camera flash. I can't get over these colors... just beautiful.

Yep, that's what it is! There were several green anemones in the touch pool, but only one had a brilliant blue color around the mouth.

I just got back from a quick trip to Las Vegas for a friend's wedding (see yesterday). Since it was also just my 30th birthday, we decided to splurge a little and stay at the Aria. Our room had an awesome city view that included the Veer Towers. They're two identical residential high-rises that are slanted - they both 'veer' away at different directions. It's pretty crazy, as much of the newer Vegas architecture is.
I enjoyed taking sort of abstract architectural photos and I will share more photos soon...

I just got back from a quick trip to Las Vegas for a friend's wedding (see yesterday). Since it was also just my 30th birthday, we decided to splurge a little and stay at the Aria. Our room had an awesome city view that included the Veer Towers. They're two identical residential high-rises that are slanted - they both 'veer' away at different directions. It's pretty crazy, as much of the newer Vegas architecture is.

I went to high school and college with the well-dressed person on the left. He just got married to the well-dressed person on the right.
The wedding was in Las Vegas and it was a lot of fun. My wife and I had a great time catching up with friends. For this shot, I set my S95 to Tv and set the shutter speed to 1/6s to capture the ambient lighting, and used the flash to freeze subjects. After the flash went off, I rotated the camera to get the full effect. Fittingly, this shot turned out the best out of all of them!

I took this shot on my way into work this morning. It was super-foggy, which allowed me to use a shutter speed slow enough to blur the water. I've been contemplating this fountain as a photography subject, but I've only ever had my S95 with me when I've been around it. One day I'll come back with my SLR and do something super cool.

This awesome Kodak Six-16 camera was a birthday gift from my awesome wife! A quick search led me to this page on Kodak's website. I don't know exactly what model I have, but Six-16 cameras (referring to the 616 film they take) were produced in one form or another from 1932 through 1948. So, at the very least, this camera is over twice as old as me!
