Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

I was going to call this elevator a silver bullet, but I've decided it looks more like a pill for a giant robot and the people inside are the medicine. You can ride this fancy elevator up to the Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel and get a fancy meal or drinks while watching the sunset from high above the city. It's definitely on our to-do list.

Some water had pooled in a big leaf and allowed for this cool reflection. Fun fact: the image has been rotated 180 degrees!

I thought it was funny that this bug was hanging out right next to a (relatively) giant spiky ball thing. As I was going through my photos, I kind of wish I'd ignored the bug and just focused on the flower ball thing itself, but oh well, maybe another day.
I desaturated and added some color effects in Lightroom.

Another iPhone desperation shot today. This scene caught my eye a few days ago, but we kept driving. We were in the area again today and I needed a photo, so we stopped. It's not super-exciting, but I think the umbrella's kind of funny.
I've had a sore throat all day, so I blame my lack of creativity on that.

Remember my friends from last Thursday? Well today is their actual last day in town, so a fairly large group of us went out to dinner and then back to their empty apartment for some champagne and chocolate. This is Sean, lying on the empty apartment floor. It's a bit grainy because it's an iPhone photo, but I like the lines and the glare off the floor.

Happy 4th of July! As you can see from this photo, I was not the only one who visited the Santa Monica Pier this evening. Armed with my new 70-300mm lens, I decided to take some crowd photos, and I like how this one turned out with the sense of movement. The crowd of relatively still people in the left foreground are watching a street performer. Another interesting detail is the Route 66 sign. The ramp at the upper left leads back up to Ocean Avenue.

It might be hard to tell, but this bunny's necklace says 'Climb Yosemite' on it. It was pretty random - we found the bunny on some picnic tables in Palisades Park in Santa Monica, which served as a pit stop during a lovely late-morning bike ride.
I always try to take photos of random things - half the time they end up being the photo of the day.

Congratulations for making it halfway through 2011! This photographic mosaic is a bit nontraditional and narcissistic, but it was an interesting experiment. I made each of these images using the Everyday iPhone app, which is specifically designed to take photos of yourself, which became a meme after Noah Kalina's YouTube video and ensuing copycats.
To be frank, I got really sick of taking photos of myself after a couple months, so I decided to stop once I got to 100. The photo where I'm smiling the most is the final one, the one I took this morning. Can you find it?. I used MacOSaiX to make what you see here. I also made a video if you want to see them in order.
