Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

I replaced a light fixture today. This is a photo of the old one, which I broke trying to fix it. Luckily the replacement was only a few dollars. I felt very fancy and grown up - I had to turn off the right circuit breaker to do it. Good thing I studied electricalities in college.

In case you're wholly unfamiliar with the Spanish language and don't know how to use the internet very well, I'll tell you. Azul means blue. As in Casa Azul, the blue house where I ate dinner tonight. It was pretty awesome, although my margarita was a bit strong, considering I was about to go to my photo class for 3 hours. Staying awake was a bit tough towards the end.

We bought some plants and pots today. Some went into our new bay window, some went outside on our balcony. This is a close up of Aeonium arboretum, after I misted it a little.

This is Vince, from my Environmental Portraiture class. We are not out in nature, but at Drake stadium at UCLA. I really liked the glow of the backlit trees, so I took this low angle shot to get them in it. We took a lot of other shots on the bleachers, which were also cool.
I'm definitely learning a lot from this class, it's very fun.

Simple shot of a bike shadow that caught my eye. I took a lot of photos with my phone today, mostly of an open house that I helped put on. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun and very rewarding once it was over! It helped to grab a drink or two (or five) after work with coworkers.

This, my friends, is pie. Perhaps you've had some? It's good stuff. We tried (and failed) to get some pie on Monday because apparently it was National Pie Day. Well, my awesome wife picked up this and a rhubarb pie today at Du-par's on Fairfax. It was delicious. And photogenic!
Background: a piece of white foamcore. Lighting: softbox on SB800 at 1/2 power, about 2 feet directly above, lovingly held up by my wife.
Fun fact: from this angle, I had to move the pie very close to the front of the cutting board to give the illusion that it's in the middle.

I love it when wandering around random buildings pays off. After work today, I decided to head up the elevator in a nearby building that's 8 stories high. Right outside the elevator it opened up to a huge South-facing balcony. I had amazing views of downtown LA, high-rises along Wilshire Boulevard, most of the UCLA campus and most of all - the ocean. The cherry on top was that I could see Santa Barbara island - the smallest of the Channel Islands. You NEVER see that one.
Without a powerful zoom, it was hard to get a good shot of the view, so I focused on the sky's colors after the sun set. This metal post runs the entire length of the building. I've taken a photo of it before.
