Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

![_07/27/11_ Fish Eye
This is an ultra-convex lens on a short-throw projector that I used at work earlier today. I wish I'd been able to get a little better focus, but I'm pretty happy with how the shapes turned out. The original photo did have a very blue tint, but I converted to B&W and added the split toning effect in LR to get this final look.

The randomness... that's why Venice Beach is so great. This mural is along Electric Avenue, which parallels Abbot Kinney. This section appears to include Michelle Pfeiffer, Benicio Del Toro and Charlie Chaplin... right?

The randomness... that's why Venice Beach is so great. This mural is along Electric Avenue, which parallels Abbot Kinney. This section appears to include Michelle Pfeiffer, Benicio Del Toro and Charlie Chaplin... right?

Any idea what this is? I'll tell you. Right..... now - it's my frosted sliding glass door that has this leaf design on it. There's a screen on the the other side. The gradient is blue sky, white(ish) roof and building in shadow, from top to bottom.
This was a pretty lazy shot - I took it from the couch where I was playing with my new 19" Domke wrap. I'm using it instead of a traditional camera case when I travel to Africa. So far I like it a lot, I think it will work well. My favorite thing is that I can easily store the neck strap.

This is my wife, riding an escalator in a store. You might notice there is some weirdness going on. That's because it's actually 10 photos stitched together using AutoStitch. I waited about 6 steps after my wife and just started taking a bunch of photos at different angles. The app is looking for common elements to make a panorama, but in this case it was just a blob of photos with the only commonality being my wife and the escalator itself. Fun stuff.
Speaking of AutoStitch, I have a blog post that's 80% done about my experience with various iPhone panorama apps. Stay tuned for that!

I'm not sure what you call these things, but there was a whole table of them at the Sony store at the mall in Century City. It's set up specifically for you to test their cameras so I obliged, but with my phone. Remarkably, the Microsoft store was way cooler than the Sony store. The Apple store still puts those carbon copies to shame, and all three are within about 100 feet of each other.
Then we saw Harry Potter v7.2, which was pretty cool. Did you hear there's a book about it? Who knew?

Here is my librarian friend Janet posing with two of her most colorful cross-stitch creations. They were on display today at her retirement party, which was quite the shindig. She was kind enough not only to pose, but to give a great smile too!
I edited a bit in Lightroom, mostly to correct color issues caused by the all-fluorescent lighting. I love this room with all the old books - they provide such a great backdrop.

This is a 3-shot panorama stitched together on the iPhone using the Autostich app, the same thing I used for my 7/12/11 daily. I'm still figuring out some interesting things about the app - this 3-shot panorama is higher resolution than a 20-shot panorama of the same scene, even though I told it to use the higher settings and it took a very long time to render... not sure what's going on there.
Anyways, this is the ceiling of Powell Library at UCLA, specifically the western staircase. It's a very pretty building...
