Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

My brother is usually a guitarist, but tonight he was a theorboist while I took this picture. Never heard of it? It's a medieval double-necked string instrument that's about 6 feet tall. Take a look - Theorbo on Wikipedia.

Although I've been hiking in Saguaro NP many, many times, I've never been with a polarizing filter on my lens. Thanks to the filter, I was able to get a super-blue sky and really bring out the subtle patterns on the cactus.
I'm happy I went hiking this morning - I have almost every meal for the next few days booked up with various friends. It's amazing how busy a vacation can become.

This lovely bouquet belongs to my wife's grandmother, and I decided it would make a cool photo. I used a 1/3s shutter speed and an off-camera flash. After the flash fired, I held the lens steady(ish) and rotated the camera body, which zoomed in and created the light trails from the Christmas tree lights.
I'm happy I spend the time to take this photo, as I thought it was going to end up being another desperation shot. We had 14 people over for dinner today, which went wonderfully! Also, we have way too much food left over. Let me know if you want some pie. I won't send any to you, I'm just curious.

This is the cross from Northminster Presbyterian Church, where my family attended a Christmas Eve service today. It featured goats! Really. But the cross - it's quite a sculpture and I really like the style.
Most anyone who sees this will be reading it on Christmas, so Merry Christmas! We'll be hosting dinner for 14 people. Wish us luck.

I got to relax for a bit today, which was nice. I didn't take many photos, though. I grabbed this salsa photo during dinner with the family at Molina's Midway. It's a little on the hot side, but very tasty.

This is my dear grandmother - she's 98. My wife and I drove to Arizona today and our first stop was to see her. The rest of my family came to see her at the same time, so it was a lot of fun.
Afterwards we all drove to Tucson and instead of going home, we watched the UofA crush Bryant University with a final score of 100-60. It was pretty satisfying. To end the day, we engaged in some gluttony at Applebee's. It's been a long, long day, but I'm happy to be in Tucson. Expect some fun Tucson-themed photos in the coming week.

Another desperation shot that I took on my way out of work. The shadows are from larger plants next to the one you see here. Anyone know what type this is? They have a lot of them around UCLA, but I no longer work near the botanical gardens so it's hard to check.
