Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Looking up from the bottom of the stairs that go from PCH down to beach, near Deer Creek Road (near Point Mugu). There is a nearby drainage marked "1932" and I'm guessing these stairs were built at the same time. I like the absurd amount of decay in this photo. This is what eighty years of rust looks like.
I spent most of my Presidents Day traveling slowly up the coast to Ventura, where I visited their pier and got dinner in their fun downtown area.

This fellow was playing the bagpipes at the 20th annual ScotsFest at the Queen Mary. He's keeping time with his foot, and I framed it so I could get his entire shadow.
The highlight was probably the caber toss, as well as lots of other big heavy things being thrown. I partook in a whiskey tasting and learned some interesting things, but only afterwards made the connection that 'scottish whiskey' = scotch. There was also an impressively loud demonstration of a gatling gun, although I have no idea what the Scottish connection is.

This is a stylized version of a photo I took earlier today with my D600. I took the same photo with my D7000 for comparison, as well as a bunch of others. At a glance, the difference is not exactly mind-blowing. Oh well...?
This is the staircase outside our front door that leads to the unit above us. Not particularly exciting, but it is twenty-four megapixels. And as any good photographer knows, it's the megapixels that matter.

This light pole also made an appearance about a month ago, but there were no clouds that day. As you can see, there were some pretty cool clouds today. In Lightroom, I basically just lowered the saturation to zero and raised the clarity to 100, not much else.

I took this shot of the RRUCLAMC (Ronald Reagan University of California Los Angeles Medical Center, for short) as I left for the day, right around sunset. I walked to the top of the adjacent parking garage to get a view of the building without shadows. Gotta love the travertine. So much travertine...
