Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

_05/15/12_ No Pets
The only clue that this was a pet store (other than the sign that's still out front) is a single empty aquarium. I couldn't get a good composition with it, though, so I focused instead on this door and area lit by the single overhead light. Boy, I sure hope some giant corporate store moves in soon!

My 4 year old iMac stopped working a week ago. The video card died, which was thankfully inexpensive to fix. I just got it back today, and made this photo creation to celebrate.
Yes, it really is a photo - two actually. I did some... stuff... in Photoshop to get this result, but the two source photos were of the 'flurry' screensaver in OS X. I did a bunch of 15 second exposures to capture a neat, colorful, and somewhat blurry pattern, then picked the best ones.

Happy Mothers Day! Or, day after, as I'm writing this at 9pm and I'm sure very few will see it on Sunday.
We had a great time eating a meal cooked mostly without motherly input and hanging around chatting. It was fun, but sadly we had to head to the airport, where I took this photo. This shot is not cropped. I lined it up nearly perfectly. I hope you're impressed.

Today was our only full day in Tucson. We helped my mom-in-law do a lot of things around the house, and we had a nice family dinner at Casa Molina, which was pretty busy. Probably because the UA graduation was today.
This steer skull is one of 4 similar decorations at my mom-in-law's house.

_05/11/12_ Lucky Flight
Flew to Tucson tonight to see our mothers. Apparently there is a holiday coming up to celebrate them, what a coincidence!
I took this shot in the airport (duh). This was the most interesting jetway scene I could find as I wandered around the terminal. As it turned out, the plane at this gate was a flight to Vegas.

_05/09/12_ Succulent Spotlight
This is pretty much a desperation shot. I was in a showroom in the late afternoon and I liked the stark whiteness of this scene. I only wish the plants were in better focus instead of the table.
You know what else I wish? That my computer wasn't broken. This is the 3rd photo I've had to do without Lightroom while my iMac is in the shop. With any luck I just need a new video card which is less than $200. If my luck is bad and it's something else, the price will be too high and I'll just get a new machine, but I really want to wait until the iMacs get refreshed, because they're kind of old.
It's a prime example of a #firstworldproblem.

_05/08/12_ Twenty-Eight Tines
In other words, there are seven forks here. See how I was clever?
I spent way too much time arranging these, and since they are forks we eat with, they're all just a little bit bent, and so it was hard to get everything perfectly symmetrical. I misted them just to add some interest. It was kind of boring without the water.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a mess to clean up.

_05/07/12_ Hanging Plants
Well, this is my first photo after removing my gallery from the Daily Photos community. I hope some people still see this... *crickets* It sure is nice to have my own custom theme back, though.
Tonight I went on a quick walk around the neighborhood and spotted these hanging plants and took a quick shot at f/1.4. I edited in iPhoto on my wife's laptop, since my iMac is on the fritz. Basically the display freaks out when you turn it on - flashing white and pink bands and everything. I would just buy a new one, but I really want them to come out with a new model first, since the current iMac is already a year old. Such is the bane of committing all of your computing devices to Apple.
