Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Happy Easter! This photo has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's a lamp on the side of Santa Monica Seafood that happened to be over my head as I walked by.

Today we went to Paradise Cove in honor of my wife's birthday. After stuffing ourselves, we walked along the ocean a little ways and sat down by the water. I took this photo. Yep.

This pretty little ring is my wife's who turned one year older today. She got the ring from her parents many birthdays ago.
Any ideas how the shot was made? What is the ring sitting on? Guess correctly and I'll send you some grape leaves for your birthday.
In other birthday news, we were very saddened to hear that Yummy Cupcakes no longer gives out a free cupcake on your birthday! We still got some, though, but we had to pay for both. Lame-o.

Today was the lovely Edible Book Festival at the UCLA Library. Treats from it have been featured as photos of the day before on 4/1/09 and 4/1/11. This is my favorite photo from the day, which I lit with my softbox, before I decided to give up on it because it was a pain to carry around.
This cake is based off of The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister. It's a children's book, in case you weren't sure. It won the award for Best Student Entry! I truly enjoyed eating a little bit of all of the entries, although it really wasn't a good idea to skip a real lunch. Talk about a sugar coma...

We had some friends over today and they brought this adorable little guy with them. You can see his colorful toys in the background, but the thing that seemed to entertain him the most was our curtains.
Also - are you kidding me with those eyelashes? He's like Bambi.
Update: I might make this black and white, what do you think? I wasn't able to edit much last night because he was sleeping in the room where my computer is :)
Update 2: Ok, it's black and white now! Well, it's 'creamtone' anyways...

Chicago Trip, Day +1
Day +1 is my way of saying that we were still in Chicago today but didn't' do anything except travel to the airport and fly home. The only photos I took were quick snapshots like this. This particular spot is where we caught the Orange Line to take us to Midway.
We had a great time seeing sights, learning things, meeting up with friends and eating way too much food. I'm looking forward to sharing more photos so stay tuned!

Day +1 is my way of saying that we were still in Chicago today but didn't' do anything except travel to the airport and fly home. The only photos I took were quick snapshots like this. This particular spot is where we caught the Orange Line to take us to Midway.

This is the James R. Thompson Center, a weird partly-round building with an absurdly large atrium, of which I took this photo. Afterwards we jumped on a train to Oak Park to visit some friends and see all sorts of fancy Frank Lloyd Wright houses.
Earlier in the day we took a boat architecture tour, which was quite fun and educational. The best part of all was the weather - we finally saw sun! And it lasted all day! I think I took more photos today than all the others combined.

This is the James R. Thompson Center, a weird partly-round building with an absurdly large atrium, of which I took this photo. Afterwards we jumped on a train to Oak Park to visit some friends and see all sorts of fancy Frank Lloyd Wright houses.

Chicago Trip, Day 3
As part of our CityPass (highly recommended) we visited the top of the Sears Tower, which is being desperately rebranded as the Willis Tower. The only place you hear the name 'Sears' is in the informational video. Anyways, this is a photo I took from the 103rd floor.
The other thing we did was visit the Museum of Science and Industry, which was an amazing place. I think it was my favorite out if all the museums we saw.
