While driving from California to Arizona, we stopped for two nights near Sedona. On the day we left, we stopped by Montezuma Well and Castle.

jawsnap > Oak Creek
After a rather hellish drive from California through lots of rain, fog and even some snow, we arrived at Manzanita campground in Oak Creek Canyon. We arrived at night, but the next morning we walked down to the creek, pictured here.
jawsnap > Spines
Some long, red prickly pear spines against some red dirt.
jawsnap > Red Wash
I'm sure there was water in this wash the day before when it was raining. Courthouse Butte is in the distance.
jawsnap > Courthouse Butte
As seen from the South Loop of the Courthouse Butte Loop trail. I think.

Courthouse Butte in the background.
jawsnap > Holey Rock
High up on Courthouse Butte.
jawsnap > Stream
This would probably be dry if it hadn't rained the day before. I like all the layers.
jawsnap > Cairn?
On the 'backside' of Courthouse Butte I found this interesting rock arrangement. Not sure what it was there for - it wasn't on the trail.
jawsnap > Ocotillo
In front of some vertical red rock.
jawsnap > Sunshine!
After hiking for well over an hour, the sun finally peeked out and it was gorgeous! Cathedral rock is in the distance.
jawsnap > Pretty Light
Cathedral rock is in the distance on the left. I don't know what the smaller formation is on the right, but I'm sure it has a name.
jawsnap > Llama Trail
Sadly, we saw no llamas.
jawsnap > Layers
I like the effect of the sunshine on different formations, it's kind of confusing to the eye.
jawsnap > Red Rock
Looking up at Bell Rock.
jawsnap > Schnebly Hill Vista
After our hike around Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock, we drove the 5 miles up Schnebly Hill Road to this amazing vista point. The road was steep, unpaved and very rough. Fair warning - we have an AWD SUV and would not have attempted it in a sedan.
Cairn?
On the 'backside' of Courthouse Butte I found this interesting rock arrangement. Not sure what it was there for - it wasn't on the trail.
