Thunder Hole Huge disappointment. Before we left on the trip, I searched SmugMug for "Acadia National Park" to see what others had photographed and came across an amazing sequence of photos by Peter Gage, starting with this one. We saw now splashes, heard no thunder. A burp at best. Oh well! I guess it reflects the nice weather and calm seas, so I can't complain too much.

Week-long trip to Maine, filled with lobsters, blueberries, rugged coastline and a wedding! Many of these shots are from Acadia National Park. Don't forget to click the "Map This" button to see where all of these shots were taken.

Sand Beach
The ONLY sandy beach on all of Mount Desert Island. It's a great beach, too. Incredibly scenic.

Another shot of Sand Beach, a beautiful place. The sand is mainly comprised of tiny shell fragments.

Stream Meets Ocean
A small stream runs across Sand Beach and into the ocean. It was fun to walk through, the water was much warmer than the ocean.

Barnacles
Near Thunder Hole, thousands of barnacles covered the rocks about halfway between low and high tides.

Near Bubble Pond. We didn't actually see any beavers, but they are obviously pretty common.
