Bugs on Wildflowers
Being springtime, there were a lot of wildflowers on our hikes. I don't know what any of them are, but they were quite pretty.
King's Canyon
This is a good example of how broad the valley floor is and how imposing the walls are. By the way, there are 3 people in this photo.
Family hiking though manzanita. They weren't bushwhacking, you just can't see the trail in this photo.
More insects on wildflowers, still on the King's Canyon hike.
Blue Lizard
There were a lot of these lizards around, and I couldn't believe how almost every single person took a photo of them whenever they were spotted. Obviously I took photos as well, but I wasn't as bad as some people we saw. This one was posing on a rock next to Roaring River Falls, our 2nd stop in King's Canyon after the hike.
Roaring River Falls
We climbed down so we could put our feet in the water. Even though most of these rivers were running really high and fast, there were always pools where it was relatively calm.
Roaring River Falls
I think this is an interesting perspective, seeing the water as it rushes around a bend to the main falls.
Roaring River Falls
Used a slow shutter speed when the sun went behind the clouds. Most of my slow water shots didn't turn out well - it was too bright to get a slow enough shutter speed most of the time.
Grizzly Falls
This is in King's Canyon, but outside the National Park boundary. You don't notice it from the road, but you hear it as soon as you get out of the car. We set the camera next to a tree and went as close as we could, getting soaked with the spray - good times! This is as close as I was comfortable getting with the camera. Like I mentioned before, all of these rivers and streams are running really high and fast with all the spring meltoff.
