Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_12/31/12_ Center Cloud
[almost] HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I headed down to the Santa Monica Pier to get some sort of end-of-the-year sunset shot. I really like the shapes and lines in this scene, and how the cloud was pretty much dead center. (I always keep the grid turned on in the camera app to help frame stuff like that.)
Unlike most folks, my 365 project does not end today - it ends on February 28th, and then I'll start Year 6.

[last year] still have some of these, kinda forgot about them...
_12/16/12_ Fuzzy Rain
This is a composite of two rain-on-my-car-window photos - one with the drops in focus and the other not so much.

_12/15/12_ Stacked Glass
This is a photo through a bunch of structural glass panes at the new (opened today) Apple Store on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. It's enormous compared to the old one, and features a pretty spectacular curved glass roof. Taken with my iPhone, of course.

[last year] typewheels are so cool...
_12/14/12_ Morning Light
Today was my last day of work until 2013, and I think this is a fitting photo with that in mind. Of course, this was the morning, not the afternoon, but whatever. I took a few photos using the AE/AF lock on my phone, waiting for people to walk by.
Cheers!

_12/13/12_ Flashing Lights
This is a four-second exposure of frantically flashing Christmas lights that we had in our window. The string of lights has various settings, from soothing-pulsing-glow to hyper-rave-seizure, and I chose one near the latter for this shot. It's similar to camera toss photos like the ones I did on 12/5/09 and 12/25/09.

[last year] I thought it was cool... didn't win...
_12/12/12_ Reflective Floor
Happy 12/12/12! We will all be dead before another date like that rolls around. Except maybe some little kids - they might make it. But they'll be very old by then.
Anyways, this is a floor. A shiny floor.

_12/11/12_ Chandelier Shadow
I like the position of this shadow on the arch of Royce Hall.

_12/10/12_ Blind Reflection
Noticed these interesting reflections in a staff break room. I've taken several other photos there due to the fun light patterns with the floor-to-ceiling blinds.

_12/09/12_ Latch
Good for keeping the back gate open. New enough that it is still shiny.
