Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_12/30/12_ Sam's Sign Silhouette
Thanks for the comments yesterday. My wife and I got back home to Los Angeles safe and sound.
We took a pit stop in Blythe and I got some photos of this old sign that says "SAM'S". I'm not sure what it is for, but it seems to be gone now.

Abandoned
Here's the dam keeper's house from right next to it. We were too scared to get out of the car because we passed multiple 'no trespassing' signs to get to it, so this was taken out the window quickly before we went back down.
The road to get here is called Stone House Road, or something very similar to that. It's one of those things that you wish had been preserved... but it wasn't.
Stone House
An old, abandoned house overlooking the dam. It blends in nicely as far as the color goes.
Apparently this is the old dam keeper's house, back when the dam had a keeper that lived next to it. I don't imagine that position is still in existence. Here's a depressing article about it:
_06/04/12_ They Don't Live Here Anymore
Here's an odd case of mailboxes persisting long after their owners' building has been demolished. My theory is that they decided to leave them up, rather than fix the hole in the fence that would occur if they took them out. Still, pretty weird.
I'm extra happy about this one because it's a second chance photo. I took a photo of these mailboxes on Saturday, and it might have been the photo of the day except my phone focused on the background instead of the mailboxes, even though the mailboxes took up 90% of the image. Today, while riding my bike home, I realized I was right next to this spot again, so I made a short detour to get a photo. In addition, this turned out to be a much better photo than the one I tried to take on Saturday.

_09/16/11_ Abandoned Home
I'm guessing the home wasn't really abandoned, rather the snail died or got eaten. Such is the way of the sea.

Fire Hydrant
New Orleans
In front of the abandoned power plant. In real life, the power plant is level and the hydrant is leaning.

Unkempt razor wire. I'd be curious to see what it's like in Summer when the vine isn't dormant.

For this shot, I had to take the lens off the camera to fit it through a fence. I don't think they did any cleanup after Katrina, they just sealed it off.
