Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

__02/13/11__ LaFourche Bayou
New Orleans, Day 5
Today we flew from LA to LA - Louisiana to Los Angeles. Shortly after taking off Louis Armstrong International Airport, I got this shot of farms plots extending out from a river which turned out to be the LaFourche Bayou - not really a river at all but an offshoot of the Mississippi. The land use pattern reminded me of the old plantation map of the Mississippi that we saw on the tour we took on Thursday.
Converted to B&W since there wasn't much color to begin with. I've re-uploaded my last 4 iPhone daily photos that I did during the trip - they now are properly labeled and have EXIF data and all that good stuff. Stay tuned for a gallery and blog post... right after I go through these 800 photos I took :)

_10/10/10_ Vernon
The city/town of Vernon, Southeast of downtown Los Angeles, is mostly warehouses. Looks lovely, no? Well at least it was a clear day so I could get this decent shot. I shot in RAW, at f/9 and added clarity and contrast in Lightroom to make it look as good as possible from the airplane.
I was flying back from Tucson, where we attended my wife's 10 year reunion. Highlights included El Charro, Golf 'n Stuff and a photo shoot. Of course, the photo shoot was unrelated to the reunion :)

Westwood
The plane window unfortunately gave me some blurry areas in this shot, but overall I'm pretty pleased with the clarity considering LA's reputation for air quality. The semi-heart-shaped group of buildings is the UCLA campus and Westwood Village. The freeway is the 405. The line of skyscrapers is along Wilshire Blvd. Santa Monica Blvd runs by the 3 buildings in the lower right. The white federal building is dead center. The cross-shaped building surrounded by parking lots and grass is the VA hospital. Part of Bel-Air is on the upper right.

Point Dume
The coast below is Malibu, with the Point Dume in the center. It's a nice little hike with good views on top, and tide pools and beaches below. It marks the Northernmost point of the Santa Monica Bay.

Sunset in the clouds. I was in a plane heading East. I'm not too happy with the detail of this photo, but that's mainly because the darn windows weren't very clean. I boosted the colors quite a bit afterwards because I remembered it being very vibrant, but the photo from the camera was incredibly flat, again because I took it from a plane window.
