Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

A wonderfully misshapen pepper from the farmers market. Lit with single off-camera flash from above, with softbox. Misted for freshness!

_04/24/12_ April Angel
This photo is in honor of my late grandmother-in-law, who passed away about 3 weeks ago. She made this bell as a gift to my wife for her birthday when she was very little. Rest in peace, Dorothy.

Bell Tower
Scotty's Castle
We were nearby when the bell rang at 5pm, which was fun.
Big Ben
London
The view towards parliament from Trafalgar Square. Next, we got some food and then headed back to the airport to fly to Johannesburg.
Bell Tower
American Reformed Church
You could hardly drive two blocks without passing some sort of reformed church. This one had a pretty cool bell tower.
Steer Head
Wouldstra's Meat Market
One of the local establishments. Your source for old world meats!
_04/15/11_ Bell Shadow
I liked this simple scene from my neighborhood as I walked around at sunset to get a photo.
Simple is good, because I had a pretty crazy week that was topped off by a very crazy Friday afternoon. We had 5 pallets of computers delivered that were supposed to come on Monday - they showed up at 4pm and I had to scramble to find a place to put them and get help to unload them. Why did they come 3 days early? Who knows...
I'm 90% sure I'm going to the Malibu Lagoon at sunrise tomorrow to take photos, so stay tuned for that! Have great weekend everyone.

__01/20/11__ Hippy Wind Chime
This belonged to my parents-in-law, who aren't exactly hippies, but to me, it looks like something that you'd find hanging in a VW Bus with shag carpet. Just sayin'.
I used the same setup as I've been using for my water droplet photos - the chime was hanging from a curtain rod resting across a white presentation foam board. I had trouble getting the lighting right with only one flash, so I decided to make the shadow a part of the scene. My off-camera flash is just underneath and in front of the bottom bell, pointing mostly at the back of the presentation board. I played around and adjusted the level so that the shadow cast by my on-camera flash would fade into white about halfway down.
