Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_07/29/11_ Last Day
The computer lab that this sign points to is where my office has been for 5.5 years, but no longer. When I get back from vacation, I'll be starting a new job in a different building! I'm excited for the new opportunities, but I wanted to make sure I captured some sort of relevant image to mark the end of my time here. It's not the most compelling subject, but I was happy to be able to get an interesting angle from the stairwell.
Speaking of 'last' things, this will be my last daily photo - *pause for dramatic effect* - that I take with my SLR for three weeks! I'm about to embark on an epic journey to Africa and will be using my phone to keep up with my One/Day Project. I won't be able to upload every day, but you can bet I'll be taking photos every day.
Toodles!

_07/28/11_ Antique Glass
This afternoon I had the opportunity to photograph a collection of glass eyes from Germany that date back to the 1860s. Considering that these were completely handmade, the detail is astounding. The box contained 50 different glass eyes, but I was immediately drawn towards these hazel colored ones, perhaps because I have hazel eyes myself. I was surprised to discover that they're not symmetrical.
I touched up the background in Lightroom to get rid of dust and lint, and I blackened the pupils a bit. I did not do any white balance adjustments - the subtle green tint was part of the glass.
While I have your attention, go check out my blog post about iPhone panorama photography. I plan on using the apps I talk about on my upcoming Africa trip for the One/Day Project.
