Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

So if you read the caption for yesterday's photo and followed the link, you saw how I replaced part of the brick patio in Photoshop. I'd never done much with the content-aware features in CS6, but I was intrigued. So today, I took a snapshot of myself and replaced everything except my eyes and the background using content-aware fill. I like the result, and I did have to play around to see what selections I needed to make so it didn't get too crazy on me.

__02/05/13__ ¡New Toy Alert!
This lens flare is coming out of (yes, out) my new 28-300mm lens that I just got in the mail. It also came with a D600. That's right, folks: I'm going full frame.
I set up for a much more involved photo where my 'old' D7000 was back to back with the new D600 with their 28-300 and 18-200 lenses. I shined a flashlight into the D7000 and because the eye pieces were lined up, the light traveled through one camera, into the other and out the D600's lens, and then I was going to take a photo from above, showing both cameras. Make sense? Well no matter, it didn't really work how I originally envisioned. Way too dim. Maybe I'll try a laser next time. If only I had a laser...
But enough of my rambling, I got a new camera! Yay!

_12/13/12_ Flashing Lights
This is a four-second exposure of frantically flashing Christmas lights that we had in our window. The string of lights has various settings, from soothing-pulsing-glow to hyper-rave-seizure, and I chose one near the latter for this shot. It's similar to camera toss photos like the ones I did on 12/5/09 and 12/25/09.

_12/08/12_ East to LA
I took a little trip on my bicycle to downtown Santa Monica to get a freeway photo, and here it is. It's not the most super-exciting freeway photo, so I spiced it up with some editing in Lightroom. Nothing too crazy.

Arrowhead Dock
On our way back home, we stopped by Lake Arrowhead, just because. There was a lot more emphasis on shopping there, so I'm glad we didn't stick around too long.
I imagine this dock is much more utilized in the summer. On this day, there was an empty canoe and these 3 guys in the distance - all other spots were empty.
Also, there were tons of ducks.
Observatory
This was taken from the top of the alpine slide. The bright white building is a solar observatory that it out on the lake. It has it's own website: Big Bear Solar Observatory
It was closed for tours because it's getting an upgrade. Maybe next time.
Slow
One morning, we went on the alpine slide that was right down the road from us. I'd never been, and it was a lot of fun! It wasn't quite the adrenaline rush I was hoping for, but definitely enjoyable. I took this from the ski lift on our way up to the start.
_11/28/12_ Still on the 'Quil
Sick for the 3rd straight day. I even missed a whole day of a conference because of this! Lame. This tasty green stuff didn't help me sleep at all last night, hopefully tonight is a different story.
In happier news, I uploaded the 4 missing photos from our recent trip to Big Bear over the Thanksgiving weekend. Check 'em out, they're pretty good if I may say so myself.

_11/27/12_ Neighbor Window
Still sick. This is a desperation shot of our neighbor's window. It was the more interesting of two windows I had to choose from.
