Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

2013-03-22 Fast Egg Desperation shot of an egg on one of our placemats. Vroom? [last year] Headed there tomorrow...
2012-03-06 Egg on Slate I first tried to take a photo of a plant silhouette. Then I put it on some stairs. Then I took away the plant. Then I added back some eggs. You know, cause... why not? I didn't like the eggs on the stairs, so I brought them inside onto this particularly rippled piece of slate tile. Lit from behind with a reflector in front so the egg wasn't a complete silhouette. Selling Chickens Here's a wider view of the chickens and goats for sale. One of the guys yelled something at us, but our friends weren't sure what it was. We didn't buy anything.
Cooped In addition to goats, chickens were also available. They were held in these homemade bamboo cages.
Chicken Transport Although these chickens were very much alive, I'm guessing they've been eaten since I took the photo.
_06/27/11_ Sliced We were going to give away this egg slicer, but I wanted to keep it because it would work well as a photo of the day. Turns out it's pretty good at slicing eggs, too. Maybe we'll keep it... [last year]
_08/02/10_ Cone Hat Rooster Car So, there's this car near my neighborhood that's shaped like a giant yellow rooster. This is his head, which comes out of the car's roof. For some reason, he has a traffic cone hat. Maybe I'll take a photo of the entire car someday, but today it was more of a desperation shot. [last year]
8/7/08 A wasp chowing down on my leftover fried chicken from lunch. Who knew wasps liked greasy food so much? He didn't mind me at all, so I was able to get in real close. The image was very saturated in yellow and red hues, so I brought those down while masking the wasp itself to keep it nice and bright.
