Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Right below these lights, I hopped into a car I rented so I can drive to a conference tomorrow. Isn't that neat?

2013-04-06 Hermosa Beach Pier
Happy birthday to my wonderful wife! I took her out to breakfast at the Good Stuff next to the Hermosa Beach Pier, of which I took this photo from underneath. It was a beautiful day, and after hanging out at the beach we saw a performance of the hilarious Avenue Q.
I like this photo because of the crazy patterns on the weather-worn concrete.

2013-03-18 Steps
Some grainy, deteriorating steps at the Westwood Brewing Company, where a handful of us grabbed a drink after work.

__02/18/13__ Coastal Access
Looking up from the bottom of the stairs that go from PCH down to beach, near Deer Creek Road (near Point Mugu). There is a nearby drainage marked "1932" and I'm guessing these stairs were built at the same time. I like the absurd amount of decay in this photo. This is what eighty years of rust looks like.
I spent most of my Presidents Day traveling slowly up the coast to Ventura, where I visited their pier and got dinner in their fun downtown area.

__02/07/13__ Corner Steps
Here's my second daily photo with my new D600. Not quite as compelling as the first... downright boring, in fact. But hey, if you ever need a photo of diagonal brick steps with concrete squares on the corner, I got you covered.

__02/02/13__ Concrete Sky
This was taken from a parking lot under a freeway. I like how clearly you can see the wood pattern in the concrete.

__01/07/13__ Lost Page
This appears to be the title page of a book, and I'm not sure what happened to the rest of it - I photographed this as it lay on the ground outside.

THE RELATIONSHIPS TO THE DUMBBELL ENGLAND
IN THE LAST THIRD OF THE FOURTEENTH CENTURY

That's what Google translates it to and I'm not sure why "Hanse" becomes "dumbbell". Regardless, it does not sound like a particularly exciting book. But it's from 1890, so that's cool.
BTW, did you see my time lapse from yesterday?

Dam
Here's the Big Bear dam itself, with a human-sized walkway where the road used to go. This dam was built in ??????????????
_10/27/12_ Pink Portal
Today we took a trip on a hot day to the new Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles to see a performance by the Axis Dance Company. It was quite an amazing performance. All around Grand Park, they have these hot pink benches, chairs and tables. I got this photo by sticking my camera underneath two of the benches and shooting through them.

Update: I didn't even realize there was a challenge going on for breast cancer awareness, but hey, it worked out!
