Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Hippo Pano
Kruger National Park
This is a 7-shot panorama of the hippos seen in the previous photo. You can see how many there are, how fat they all are, and how most of them are asleep. You can also see how the hippos and crocs live harmony. I bet there's a folk tale about it...
Open Croc
Kruger National Park
This croc is not angry, but is simply regulating his body temperature by letting the sun shine in its mouth, where it has a special organ for absorbing sunlight. Something like that... our guide was really well educated about all the animals - I wish I remembered everything he said.
Lying in Wait
Balule Game Reserve
After we basically chased the croc into the water, it stayed just offshore, watching us in typical crocodile fashion. A couple times it silently disappeared below the water and our guide showed us that you can still tell where it is by the sediment it stirred up, even though the surface of the water stayed perfectly flat.
He had us stand behind him while we watched this.
Running/Swimming Away
Balule Game Reserve
As we walked (!) within about 20 feet or so of the croc, it got up and 'ran' into the water. I was happy to get a photo of the action.
Lounging
Balule Game Reserve
We saw this same croc earlier in the day during the bush walk, but it was a bit more exciting in the afternoon. Mostly, because we got out of the vehicle and walked right up to it. Seriously! It was awesome.
