Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

This fun little guy was hanging around our house and as cool as it is, I made it go outside. First, however, I got this photo while on our curtain. I'm glad I finally upgraded my camera - this is significantly cropped, but still 6 megapixels. Good enough for an 8x10!

These desks caught my eye as a cool subject with the afternoon light coming through the curtain. I'm pretty sure everything in this photo is original to the building, which opened in the mid-60s. Although I like the photo at a glance, I'm a little frustrated with myself that it's not perfectly centered - all of the straight lines are just a little bit off.

_03/23/12_ Fan Out
This is kind of a desperation shot - it's some curtains at work, flipped upside down. I played with the white balance to bring out some of the subtle hues, which seemed to be the way the light off of nearby buildings filtered in. I wish I had been able to take this in RAW, I would have had more to work with. Such is the difficult life of a cell phone photographer.

Cool afternoon light through the window made this a much more interesting photo than it would have been otherwise.

I set my S95 on manual to take this blown-out shot of some lucky bamboo with a curtain as the backdrop. As you may have guessed, this a desperation shot.

I've been wanting to take this shot since last week and finally did today. It kind of fits my mood, since I've had a headache for most of the day and things have been kind of fuzzy.
The subject of this vertically panned photo is the stringy tips of a bamboo plant. They hang down like a mini weeping willow and I wanted to exaggerate that verticality. I particularly like the color scheme, and it reminds me of the album for Narrow Stairs, although more green and obviously not blocky. I took a couple dozen shots with different manual settings, this one had the most visual interest.

Of course I'm more of a cubicle rat, but the title fits this photo. Today is my first day in San Francisco for Macworld, and this is the view from my hotel room as I work diligently on my laptop.
I put my camera on my gorillapod and set it on the ironing board and set the self timer for 10 seconds so I had time to run over and sit down with the laptop. All of the light in this shot is coming from the laptop or city lights.

mac os x tips!
