Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

__01/05/13__ Standard Fit
This is the tag on a new pair of pants I just bought. It's personally significant, because I've been a size 38 waist for many years. I've lost a lot of weight recently, though, and this was the first time I actually bought smaller clothes. I'm planning on having to do more of that, as long as Weight Watchers keeps working for me.

_10/29/12_ Fuzzy Spider
This fun little guy was hanging around our house and as cool as it is, I made it go outside. First, however, I got this photo while on our curtain. I'm glad I finally upgraded my camera - this is significantly cropped, but still 6 megapixels. Good enough for an 8x10!

_10/05/12_ Cross Stitch
The square piece of fabric was stitched by my grandmother, who was very good at her craft. I'm not sure what this piece was for, it seems like it's a sample of patterns or something. Regardless, we thought it was fun and decided to put it in a frame, which you see here. It seemed appropriate for a selective color photo, which is quite rare for me.

_11/28/11_ Woven
Desperation shot of a colorful and oh-so-soft blanket. I almost forgot to take a photo today - I spent a large portion of the day going through Death Valley photos, which I will share with you shortly. I made sure to get the bulk of the editing done today, because I am leaving on another (!) trip tomorrow morning. It'll be a short visit to San Francisco for a conference, but I hope to see at least a few sights while I'm there.

_12/21/10_ Angels
These handmade angels were a joint effort - my grandmother created the angels and my grandfather made the star that all 33 angels hang from. They've lived at my parents house for quite a while now and are part of our Christmas tradition. I like this shot because the angel looks like he/she is beckoning to come join the swirling angel party.
I got this shot by putting my S95 in full manual mode with the flash on at f/8 and .6 seconds. I'm still learning how to use it, but I'm pretty impressed with the manual abilities of this camera.
