Jonathan Wilson (jawsnap) > _03/06/10_ Orange Flower
Got this shot along the 3rd Street Promenade before I grabbed some food at the farmer's market this morning. It had just rained, so there were lovely drops on all the flowers. Added some vignetting and contrast in Lightroom.

Jonathan Wilson (jawsnap) > _03/05/10_ Yellow Flower
Through the magic of inverting, this yellow flower appears blue. Oooh neato!
Of course, I did more than just invert the photo, but I don't feel like boring you with the details today. It was basically a desperation shot as I left work for the weekend. Lots of Photoshop made it more interesting than it was out of the camera. Have a good weekend!

Behold, the inside of a lily bud flower thing. We bought some lilies last week and the smaller buds didn't open before the rest of the flowers had already wilted.
I sliced the bud in half with an X-ACTO blade and placed it on our glossy white TV stand. I took 11 shots - each with a different focus point - and used Photoshop CS4's focus stacking feature to blend it all together - that's why everything's in focus.

Also, welcome to Year 3 of my One/Day Project!

Jonathan Wilson (jawsnap) > __02/18/10__ Cherry Blossom Redux
Got a rather boring shot of a cherry blossom on my phone, so I spiced it up in Photoshop mostly playing with blend modes. I was going for a watercolor look. By the way, happy 20th birthday Photoshop! How far it's come...
In other news, the fact that the cherry blossoms are coming out means I'm getting close to the end of my year of photos! For me, this project started on leap day '08. At the end of last year I honored that by taking a similar bee-on-flower photo. I'll probably do the same this year :)

Jonathan Wilson (jawsnap) > __01/26/10__ Tulips With An Attitude
Reminiscent of Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors, I half expected these flowers to bite me. They were a gift for one of my coworkers, who graciously allowed me to hover over her desk to shoot them for a few minutes.
I ended up doing a lot of editing and masking to blow out the background while preserving the vibrant colors. I love being able to switch back and forth between Lightroom and Photoshop so easily.

Jonathan Wilson (jawsnap) > __01/04/10__ Blue Barnacles
That's what they look like to me, anyways. Of course they're really flowers on a stalk-type-thing. I desaturated most colors except blue and purple to highlight the flowers. Also added a bit of vignetting.

Jonathan Wilson (jawsnap) > _12/29/09_ Spiky Flower
Today some friends and I went hiking in Pima Canyon. We saw quite a few of these not-so-nice-looking flowers. I like the subtle desert colors.

Dunno what this yellow flower thingy is. Dunno what the tree behind it is, either. But I thought they were pretty together!
I'm studying for a certification exam tomorrow morning, so I haven't been spending much time on photography. I'll let you know how it went in tomorrow's daily.

Jonathan Wilson (jawsnap) > _10/22/09_ Roses
Most. Creative. Subject. Ever.
I highly recommend becoming a homeowner near a Ralph's grocery store - they send you a whole page of coupons for free stuff! That's how we got this bouquet of roses - normally we buy a variety when we get flowers.
I positioned my off-camera flash to the left and bounced it off the ceiling and used a bounce card to direct some of the light right at the roses. Oh, and I did a little processing afterward. Shock!
