Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

2013-05-17 Bouquet
Ugh, still sick. But I made more of an effort on today's photos than the previous 4. I set up a flower bouquet in front of a white background and used a long shutter speed while firing a flash multiple times. I thought it might be an interesting effect, but... it's not all that interesting. Maybe I'll play around more when I feel more like a real human.

2013-05-02 Spinning Bouquet
Like a week ago, I took a bouquet of flowers and spun them around, with a slightly different method. This time, I used a lazy susan instead of suspending them from a twisted string and letting it unravel.
And not that it has anything to do with the photo, but we got these flowers for only $1 at the farmers market! One dollar!

2013-04-25 Spinning Daisies
I've been taking a lot of iPhone photos lately. The last DSLR photo I took was of this daisy over a week ago. Today's photo is of the bouquet that flower came from. Since the flowers are much more dead now, I decided to use motion to bring some beauty back, since the color was still there.
How did I do it? Eh, to tired to explain. You can guess.

2013-04-17 Flame Daisy
After a particularly sub-par phone photo yesterday, I was determined to get something better today. So, even though the flower isn't exactly in mint condition, I set it up against a black background, misted it, and made this photo with the help of an off-camera softbox.
I'm not sure if it's actually called a flame daisy, but it should be.

__02/27/13__ Bee on Flower
It's my annual bee-on-flower photo, in honor of my first daily photo ever! I've made a point to go back around the end of every year to get a similar photo in tribute. I was successful for years 1-3, but last year it didn't work out because there were simply no bees- so I was happy it worked out today! This isn't the cherry tree, but a much smaller pink-blossomed plant nearby.
And now we have 364 photos in this gallery - stay tuned for #365! And then it's on to Year 6...
