Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Today's my birthday, and NASA sent me a Space Shuttle! Jealous?
It was a really fun shared experience today, both online and in person. I took the day off for various mostly-birthday reasons, and after a delicious breakfast at Milo & Olive my wife and I headed down to the Santa Monica pier to see the shuttle fly in after it's journey around the Bay Area. This photo was actually taken on the 2nd pass. I like how the clouds look, which is largely thanks to post processing. It was still flying around when we got home, and so we were able to watch it land for the last time ever at LAX. It's been a pretty cool birthday.

[last year] still haven't taken a photo with this...
_06/22/11_ Fly Hook
Are you hooked? Then I'd recommend getting a tetanus shot very soon. Cause the hook is rusty. Haha...
This is a fly, for fly fishing. I've been several times, but not for a long time. I was pretty into it, I even had a fly-tying kit for a while! This is not one of them, my flies look terrible and no self-respecting fish would try to eat them.
Speaking of self-respecting fish, check out my new blog post on the 300mm lens I rented two weekends ago! True, it has nothing to do with fish, but check it out anyways!

In other news, this story features a photo of the same guy from my 5/12/11 daily!

_04/18/11_ Hanging On
I swore this thing was dead.
I mean, what kind of stupid crane fly just hangs onto some leaves with only its front two legs? I thought maybe it died during the night and just hadn't fallen off yet. I got super close to it and took 7 photos before it proved me wrong and flew away.

Llama!
Geese Flying
Stop 1: Sepulveda Basin
As we started playing in the water - especially with dogs - the geese started flying around. This is the best flying shot I got...
1/17/09
Little green-eyed fly on a flower in Zuma Canyon near Malibu. We went hiking today and the harsh midday sun didn't allow for any good scenic photos. The hike was fun though, with lots of ocean views. The air was fairly clear, and we were able to see Santa Catalina, Santa Barbara and San Clemente islands (although we just barely made out San Clemente).
Cool fly on my car which I should have washed, apparently.
