Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

2013-04-14 High Contrast Dinner
I only took one photo today - my dinner! The bread has ricotta cheese spread over it, and the noodles are dyed with squid ink, so it's very black vs white. The pasta actually put off an ocean-y smell when they were cooking. Didn't taste like it, thankfully.

Thanks for the comments on yesterday's photo - I do indeed wonder where they're all going, and I never even thought about the fact that it can be a good time capsule with the car models.

2013-04-12 Colorfork
This is my 4th Photojojo University assignment, although it's not exactly what Professor Pancake asked for. The challenge was to illuminate a scene with two different colors of light, using some sort of slow shutter speed app on the iPhone. Well I did that but didn't like the results. But as I was looking at the photo on my computer screen, I noticed it reflected on the fork in a cool way - so this is a photo of that reflection. I like it and I hope Professor Pancake is OK with it.

_06/27/12_ Fork Shadow
My wife is still in the hospital, but continues to improve. This is the first photo of the day I've uploaded on time since she went in, if that's any indication her recovery :)
I wanted to go somewhere fun for dinner, so I took our parents to Bru's Wiffle. My wife and I had been for breakfast before, but never dinner. I got a burger and it was pretty awesome. Our parents all got some sort of chicken and waffles - which none of them had ever had before - so that was fun, too.
We sat at this green table and the sun was very low in the sky, letting me get this fun shadow photo.

In other words, there are seven forks here. See how I was clever?
I spent way too much time arranging these, and since they are forks we eat with, they're all just a little bit bent, and so it was hard to get everything perfectly symmetrical. I misted them just to add some interest. It was kind of boring without the water.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a mess to clean up.

__02/22/10__ Ripple Fork
A day or two ago I noticed that if I left a little bit of water in the sink and turned on the garbage disposal, awesome standing waves appeared. That shimmering, magical pattern was just begging to become a daily photo, so here you go. I first tried with my hands, but it was too hard so I went with this serving fork.
Check out the setup photo if you dare.
