Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

__01/28/11__ Framed Fox
The glowing blueish light in the lower left is the Fox Theater in Westwood - I liked how the palm trees in a courtyard a few blocks away framed it. I got this shot while walking to the bus stop after finishing my 3rd week in a remarkably intense fitness program at work.

Neil Patrick Harris, that is. I met him, as well as the rest of the cast of How I Met Your Mother! Due to some super-fancy connections my wife has, we got to hang out on the set today as they shot parts of the season finale at Fox studios in Century City. Spoiler alert: they all die. Well, OK, that's not what happens but you'll just have to wait until it airs.
I didn't get any amazing shots, but this was my favorite of NPH. They were all nice, but he and Alyson Hannigan were super friendly. I touched up the photo by cropping in close, adding some vignetting and desaturating the background a bit.
Being at the studio during a shoot was pretty cool. It was neat to see the actors, the equipment and the complex process that results in just a few seconds of screen time. I was really surprised at how many different people were involved.

I'm uploading this photo a day late because a very tall truck drove down the alley and ripped out the cable line that goes to our house and gives us internet access. At least that's what we think happened...
This is the Fox Theater in Westwood, where many movie premiers happen. The clouds were gorgeous yesterday, so I stuck around until sunset and looked for something interesting to photograph them with. There actually was a movie premier going on, too: Marley and Me. It looks terrible, but I guess the dog on the movie posters is cute.
This was taken just before sunset, and then the colors started to fade, so I walked away. Then, about 10 minutes later, it lit up again - bright pink. I took a few shots, but my interesting building was way behind me, so they weren't very interesting by themselves. This was my favorite, because it shows a variety of clouds and the detail in them.
