Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Farewell, April. This photo was made with a flash bulb housing and gears from a pocket watch. Both the flash and the watch were slated for the trash.
Just to be clear - this is not Photoshopped. It's two gears and the resulting reflections from being placed in the bottom of the flash bulb housing.

I hadn't taken any photos earlier in the day, so I set out for some inspiration by looking around SmugMug. I found it in Jean Darveau's shot of a bicycle chain.
Want to see how mine was done? There's a setup photo for that.

_05/20/10_ Trippy Bike
For this shot, I set my bike upside down so the wheel could spin freely, then took a photo with my flash on repeating mode (strobe), while zooming in.
Today is LA's Bike to Work Day, and I'm proud to say I participated. Besides getting exercise and keeping a car off the road, I also got free food! First pancakes at one pit stop, then a bagel and pastries at a 2nd later in the day. Not bad, not bad.
