Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

__02/19/12__ Natural Habitat
Today we went whale watching in Long Beach. We saw none. NONE! We did see a lot of dolphins, however, and this trio of sea lions basking on a buoy. Back on shore, the announcer kept telling the next group that they might "see California sea lions in their natural habitat!". Not exactly.
I was pretty unimpressed with the crew's way of dealing with no sightings - they just played it off like it was a wonderful trip because "we saw a lot of dolphins, which are actually a type of whale!" The hell with that - I didn't pay $60 to see common dolphins. At the very least, a discount on a future trip would have been nice.
It was fun, though, and we had a nice relaxing lunch afterwards. And then we went to IKEA, for no reason at all. We'd never been before, and it was crazy!!! We have not planned a return trip at this time...

Anchor Chain
I took some detail shots around the boat as we waited to depart for Anacapa island.
Columbia and Smith
The tower on the left is Columbia Center. It has more floors (76) than any other building West of the Mississippi. It was the tallest building on the West coast when it was built (in 1985, now it's the US Bank building in LA).
The building on the right is Smith Tower. It was built in 1914 and was the tallest building West of the Mississippi until 1931.

Big Boat, Little Boat
Our harbor cruise took us right past some of the enormous cargo ships.
2 Dudes in a Boat
Fishing, out on Puget Sound
God Bless Floatplanes
This one was probably giving aerial tours. We opted for the boat tour - the American flag you may have noticed in this photo was on our tour boat.
Factory Trawlers
Boooo! A lot of cheap fish probably comes from these guys. Who knows how many other animals they inadvertently kill.
Seattle Post-Intelligencer
The globe says "It's in the P-I"
Oh, and that thing in the background is called the Space Needle :)
