Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_08/05/12_ Happy Hippo
This is a delicious Happy Hippo, a treat from the German company Kinder (translates to 'children'). My dear brother was recently in Germany, and he brought these back for us, along with a cute lederhosen-wearing teddy bear.
I know there may be some cultural differences, but does this hippo actually look happy to you? He looks incredibly worried to me. With good reason, I suppose.

_08/29/11_ Wooden Hippo
OK, so I lied in yesterday's photo - here's one more Africa souvenir. I think it looks really cool, bu there's not a whole lot to say about it... here's a setup photo.
Also, go ahead and check out my first batch of Africa photos! I hope you enjoyed my iPhone daily photos, but these are the real deal. Part 1 includes everyone's favorite - the animals. Parts 2 and 3 will be along shortly.

Hippos
Kruger National Park
This photo was taken from a nice overlook on the opposite bank of the river. Pretty sure that's about as close to hippos as I want to get.
Eyes and Ears
My lens was too long to include the mouth and nose. Or the shoulders and knees for that matter. This photo was taken shortly after the hippo wandered away from its breakfast and back into the water - I was expecting some splashing, but it was pretty graceful, if that's the right word. No, I'm sure there's a better word for that. Let me know if you think of it.
Munch, Munch, Munch
Breakfast time for hippos includes alfalfa and carrots. It was awesome to see the hippo up and about - they're so incredibly massive. I love that its belly is only a few inches from the ground. These things can run faster than me? It sure is hard to believe, but I suppose it's not something I want to find out in person.
