Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Razor Wire
Soweto
We saw a lot of this sort of fencing around Johannesburg. A LOT.
Coca Cola
Soweto
I included this photo to show all the red Coca Cola signs. They're EVERYWHERE. I'm pretty sure Coke will give you a free sign to advertise your business, so long as you're OK with white lettering on a red background and half of your sign is a Coke bottle.
I did not expect to see them here. The 3 signs I can read are as follows:
Basothong Tavern
Green House Soft Drink
Mgcina's Tuck Shop
Informal Settlement
Soweto
Here you can see the extent of the slums - it's pretty vast.
Curious

This cute kid watched us from his yard.
Cute in Pink

This little girl and her brother (?) ran away from us when we got close to them.

Informal Settlement
Soweto
I guess 'informal settlement' is a nice word for slums. We weren't exactly sure why our tour guide took us here, but it was an experience to see it. Each 'block' shares a single spigot for water. I'm not sure how sewage works. As you can see, homes are built mostly with scrap metal.
