Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_11/06/12_ Election Lamp
This lamp is nothing more than the most exciting thing I saw around me as I walked to the bus as the sun was setting. But it's election day! I hope your guy won. Unless your guy was different than my guy. OK fine, I'll tell you, I voted for Obama.
It's fun that I've been doing this for over 4 years, because I can now go back and show you what I was photographing the last presidential election. OK fine, I'll tell you, it was a cycad plant.

_08/28/12_ Bulbs
Desperation shot of a couple of light bulbs.

[last year] glowing pachyderm...
_08/15/12_ Light Web
The underside of a lamp, which was very ful of spiderwebs.

_07/12/12_ Wall Light
Desperation shot of a lamp. I used the grid feature on my phone to line it up so I barely had to crop to get it centered.

_04/08/12_ Overhead Lamp
Happy Easter! This photo has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's a lamp on the side of Santa Monica Seafood that happened to be over my head as I walked by.
Hope you had a great weekend.

What do you think this is? Any ideas?
I do know what it's for, so I guess I'll tell you. They're PVC pipes hung at a specific height off of the road to let big trucks know if they're too tall and will hit the construction under the freeway underpass. I'm sure the clearance is only a foot different or so, but Caltrans makes damn sure you know that it changed. In addition to these dangling poles there are bright signs, flashing lights, the works.
This particular pole is on the off-ramp of the 405 south onto Wilshire.

__01/09/12__ Lamps and Lights
This is a tree and lamp lined street in Westwood, where I hung out waiting for my Environmental Portraiture class to start. That's right - I'm taking a real live class! I've never taken a formal photography class before, so I'm pretty excited. So far, the class is cool! Expect to see quite a few portraits - along with some environment! - in the next few months.

[last year] love how this turned out...
