Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

__01/11/13__ Leaf on Asphalt
Saw this leaf on the bike path as I rode home on this very cold (for LA anyways) afternoon. I got a ways down the path before I told myself "hey Jonathan, it caught your eye, you should go back and take a photo of it" and I did.
Is it some sort of maple leaf? I feel like yes, but I'm not positive.

Leaf
Is this an oak leaf? I thought it was, but now I'm not so sure. It's very pointy, and I'm used to oak leaves being... less pointy. They had a lovely yellow color, though, and they added to a nice all-around Fall feeling.
Maple Leaf
There's generally not a lot of fall color around Los Angeles, but you find it here and there!
_09/27/12_ Loading Dock Leaf
I found this leaf at a loading dock, hence the title. The black part is the buffer that prevents trucks from hitting the concrete.
Processed in Lightroom. Lots of clarity added.

Oh, and I generally try not to over-promise things, but tomorrow's photo is going to be AWESOME.

_08/07/12_ Drain
This is/was a storm drain. A good place to get lock jaw, no doubt. Pretty much a desperation shot, but at least it's not quite as desperate as yesterday's.

_04/27/12_ Processed Leaf
I probably spent 30 minutes photographing my watch before giving up and taking a photo of this leaf instead. In real life, it's not quite this green, and the blues are actually reds.
My watch is really cool, though, and I hope to get a good photo of it later when I have a better setup, and possibly a lens that can focus closer.

[last year] good times with Elmo...
2012-03-02 Fence Heart
Wow, what a week. I finished Year 4 amid an especially hectic work-week. Thanks to my friend Vivek, our staff newsletter was alerted to the milestone and I got interviewed about it this morning. I should become world-famous in about a week or so.
Today's photo was taken during a walk around the neighborhood. Aww, love...
The whitish/bluish dome-like shape in the background is a parked car. FYI.

__02/22/12__ Soft Landing
A leaf in some grass. I like the soft colors.
Do you know what happens in a week??? I'll be done! Next Wednesday, I will have finished four years - FOUR YEARS! - of taking and posting a photo every single day. Leap day '08 to leap day '12. Crazy.
But of course it begs the question... should I keep going?

_12/20/11_ Plant Shadows
Another desperation shot that I took on my way out of work. The shadows are from larger plants next to the one you see here. Anyone know what type this is? They have a lot of them around UCLA, but I no longer work near the botanical gardens so it's hard to check.
