Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_05/19/12_ Bared
This was taken at the Los Angeles Zoo today. These two males were not exactly happy with each other and had quite the tussle. Although the teeth are menacing, they basically just slapped each other.
I can't believe there's a person's head in the photo!! I couldn't tell at all on the camera's LCD. Very frustrating... but the teeth-baring chimp was too cool not to share - it's not like the head is blocking the chimp's head.

__02/19/12__ Natural Habitat
Today we went whale watching in Long Beach. We saw none. NONE! We did see a lot of dolphins, however, and this trio of sea lions basking on a buoy. Back on shore, the announcer kept telling the next group that they might "see California sea lions in their natural habitat!". Not exactly.
I was pretty unimpressed with the crew's way of dealing with no sightings - they just played it off like it was a wonderful trip because "we saw a lot of dolphins, which are actually a type of whale!" The hell with that - I didn't pay $60 to see common dolphins. At the very least, a discount on a future trip would have been nice.
It was fun, though, and we had a nice relaxing lunch afterwards. And then we went to IKEA, for no reason at all. We'd never been before, and it was crazy!!! We have not planned a return trip at this time...

Breakfast Monkey
Marc's Treehouse Lodge
For photo purposes, we tried to lure the monkey where we wanted it, but for some reason it ignored our plan. I still got this shot of it at the breakfast table. Apparently monkeys love jam.
Observant
Marc's Treehouse Lodge
The breakfast spot at Marc's Treehouse Lodge was a bunch of outside picnic tables next to a covered area. This monkey climbed to the top of the covered area and surveyed the food. When the time was right, he jumped down, grabbed food and took off.

Cute, huh?
Jackal
Kruger National Park
A small jackal running along the road right around sunset.
