Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Spiky Tree Johannesburg A very sharp tree - we saw a lot of those.
Sentech Tower Johannesburg This landmark rises above everything around it and we had a great view of it the morning we left our Melville guest house. I was sad to read that it used to have a public viewing deck, but it's been closed since 1982.

Bookstore on 7th Street Melville Supposedly the 2 or 3 blocks of 7th Street in Melville were the place to be - shopping, restaurants, bars, everything! We, of course, went on a Monday afternoon when it had just rained and was bitterly cold, and it was very unimpressive. In fact, it was pretty depressing with so few people around. We tried to kill some time by going into a couple bookstores, but they were all like this one pictured here. Very little organization, just piles and piles of books.
English and Afrikaans Melville On our 'day off', we went to a nearby mall to get some food and other things. It was really interesting to see packaging in English right next to identical packaging in Afrikaans. Also, the only flavor of Fritos we saw was tomato - how strange is that? I guess not very strange if you're a South African. Also, tomato sauce = ketchup.

Supposedly the 2 or 3 blocks of 7th Street in Melville were the place to be - shopping, restaurants, bars, everything! We, of course, went on a Monday afternoon when it had just rained and was bitterly cold, and it was very unimpressive. In fact, it was pretty depressing with so few people around.
