Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

This incredibly large fish was quite shy, and just barely poked out from the side of a large tank from time to time. I noticed it swam in the same pattern, so I was able to anticipate it.
_07/10/12_ Demolition
The old building at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. The new building surrounds it, so they have to be very careful while they tear this one down. It's incredible to watch, and I actually took some video of this massive claw thing that I will post as soon as I cut it together (might be a while). Basically this thing munches away at the building, a little bit at a time. Every once in a while a large amount of debris will crash to the ground. It's crazy, I've never seen anything like it.
I took a photo of it 5 days ago, and that part of the building is now gone. They're moving pretty quickly...

[last year] deserves to be re-shot...
Brachiasaurus
Perhaps a bit too big to display indoors, this enormous brachiasaurus skeleton is on the west side of the Field museum.
_03/20/12_ Shiny Baby
Today I went on a little work trip to Anaheim to see some nifty products. On my way to find some lunch afterwards, I looked up and hey - it was the Crystal Cathedral. I'd never seen it before, so I decided to stop and take some photos. I know the church has been going through some tough times, but the building sure is awesome.
Just outside the sanctuary there was a statue of Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. Mary and Joseph weren't made of metal, so I assume the chrome signifies divinity. He looks like a baby T-1000. It's also quite reminiscent of the tiger guy from Gladiator.

_09/25/11_ Anemone Mouth
Yep, that's what it is! There were several green anemones in the touch pool, but only one had a brilliant blue color around the mouth.
I took this photo at the annual photographer's night at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. For this shot, I got in real close with my macro lens and used the light provided by my off-camera flash. I can't get over these colors... just beautiful.
I'll be sharing more photos from the night soon!

[last year] awesome concert...
_06/02/10_ Dummies
I took a CPR and first aid class today. It was a nice refresher and I learned some new things, too, like how to use an AED and administer an epipen. These are some of the CPR dummies before the class started. They looked even creepier when the trainers set the baby dummies next to them.
