Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

2013-04-03 Rich
A diamond with the word 'RICH' on it, eh? It's a fire hydrant that I noticed as I was waiting to cross the street. Not sure who/what Rich is, or why the word isn't centered in the diamond. Or square. I just... I just don't know.

Today we took a trip on a hot day to the new Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles to see a performance by the Axis Dance Company. It was quite an amazing performance. All around Grand Park, they have these hot pink benches, chairs and tables. I got this photo by sticking my camera underneath two of the benches and shooting through them.

Update: I didn't even realize there was a challenge going on for breast cancer awareness, but hey, it worked out!

This fountain seems to have had some issues in the past...

_09/12/12_ Paint Decay
I'm glad I got yesterday's photo when I did - those shelves are completely gone now.
Today's photo is a painted concrete wall that's seen better days. Most of the wall is below ground, and the dark yellow is a stain from where water seeped through a crack. You can also see horizontal scrapes, probably from delivery trucks. It's basically just a texture photo.

[last year] still under constuction...

On a very gray day, we headed out to the Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes and had a lovely picnic lunch. I saw some dolphins feeding, but missed some humpback whales that apparently were putting on a show. This was our 3rd or 4th visit, but the 1st time we went in the little museum. It was nice, I highly recommend it.
The fence near the building has the posts numbered for some reason. They have some pretty strongly-worded signs about climbing over the fence. Of course, even the stupidest drunk person should be able to tell that you'll almost certainly die if you fall off the cliff. But it only takes one...

[last year] turns out these suck as actual coasters...

I went minimalist today. The parking lot near our house got paved and painted this morning, and it was all taped off for it to dry. I knew that as soon as cars started driving on it, it would never have the dramatic, unspoiled black and white contrast, so I took a photo. Not exactly glamorous, but interesting. To me, anyways.

_04/12/12_ Candle
Another sick day, another desperation shot. Sigh.
This is a candle we got in Africa. It was actually a desperation purchase, so to speak. We bought it solely to use up the rest of our rand (South Africa's currency), before boarding our flight back to the US.

_04/11/12_ Shiny Bug
Hey guess what?! I finally installed LR4 today and used it to edit and upload this photo! I haven't played with it much, but I do appreciate that the interface isn't terribly different, and that Jeffrey Friedl's plugin still works, although I did have to re-register it and pass a few more dollars his way. Money well spent.
In other Lightroom-related news, I'm almost done with my Chicago photos, so keep an eye out for that gallery.
This photo is of a Volkswagen Beetle that I found parked on the side of the road. It was exceptionally shiny, and the road was lined with palm trees, so I thought it would make a good reflective subject. I came upon it on a short walk around my neighborhood. I got a little lightheaded, but I am feeling better than yesterday and Tuesday!

[last year] one of my favorites with no subject...
