Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Ocean View
Overlooking PCH. We took a group photo and then headed up to Wokano for our 'after party' where I had fun pigging out.
Made It!
Here's me at the ocean! I didn't have any photos for the last 4 miles, mostly because I ended up chatting with other walkers for the last stretch. It was funny that I got separated for at least half the walk, but then we all kind of came back together towards the end.
_08/22/12_ Ship Bench
I felt the need to burn off some energy tonight, so I walked to the ocean and back - about 4 miles. My final destination was Ocean/California, at Palisades Park. There is a bench/sculpture reminiscent of a ship. It overlooks the California Incline, which is a steep slant of a road that takes you from the bluffs down to PCH. It's scheduled to close soon to be rebuilt, which will cause some definite traffic issues.
I actually took some pretty cool photos of the road, but I wasn't satisfied with the handheld quality. I'll go back with a tripod, graduated ND filter and my D7000 sometime and show you that one.

[last year] enchanting eyes...
_04/14/12_ Twist
This is the top of an awesome sculpture called Gestation III, by Baile Oakes, which sits in Palisades Park in Santa Monica. I haven't witnessed it, but apparently at the winter solstice the sun shines right through the center of it as it sets over the ocean. I took a photo of it in Year 3, too.
I hope Sammy and Tammy are very happy together.

__01/16/12__ Sunset 4 U
Tonight's sunset was pretty cool, as there was a green flash. I knew I had seen it, but it was further confirmed by a lady next to me that started yelling "I saw it! I saw it!"

[last year] ah, a year without those stupid glass blocks...
_10/01/11_ Orange Glow
My wife had her own thing tonight, so I decided to pack myself a dinner and ride my bike down to Palisades Park to watch the sun set. It was pretty fun, there was a wedding party taking group shots and two guys playing bocce. As sunset turned to dusk, I noticed how cool this tree looked with the orange incandescent glow against the blue night sky. I had to wait a while so that the light from the lamp was a little brighter than the ambient light so the exposure would be balanced.
This 30-second exposure was taken about 40 minutes after sunset.

Also - Africa, Part 3: Joburg photos are posted! Captions are almost done.

[last year] I just ate one of these yesterday...
_05/20/11_ Final Sunset
Seeing as the world is ending tomorrow, I thought it would be nice to get some sort of photo of the last pre-rapture sunset. I rode my bike to Palisades Park to overlook the ocean and found these pleasantly arranged grasses, reaching towards the sky, as if they're pointing the way for all those souls that will ascend into heaven sometime tomorrow.
Cheers!
Oh, also: this.
