Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Not as desperation-y as yesterday, but I'm still pretty sick. I took this photo out on a walk around the block. It's a cycad plant, which looks like a little palm tree. But it's not a palm tree. It's a cycad.

2013-05-02 Spinning Bouquet
Like a week ago, I took a bouquet of flowers and spun them around, with a slightly different method. This time, I used a lazy susan instead of suspending them from a twisted string and letting it unravel.
And not that it has anything to do with the photo, but we got these flowers for only $1 at the farmers market! One dollar!

Red onions at the farmers market.

2013-04-07 Succulent
A large succulent (wish I could be more specific) I saw while walking around. I may have taken a photo like this before... and I probably will again. But they look so cool!

2013-04-02 HDR Misuse
I started a class today! It's Phoneography 101 from Photojojo University! I signed up for it a few weeks ago, and they just send the first assignment this morning, which was to intentionally 'misuse' the HDR feature by moving the camera as you took the photo to get a double-exposure effect. This one was my coolest, by far.
You can see my homework version on Instagram. Do you use it? Follow me! I'll probably follow you back. My username is jawsnap (shocker!).

2013-03-11 Garlic
A bulb of garlic that caught my eye because it looked like an eye. I lit with a softbox from above and had a simple white paper reflector below. The exciting part for me was using my new SB-700 flash, which I'd actually never used before, despite owning it for over a month. It's so much more user-friendly than my SB-800! I'm a fan.

Tonight I went for a walk/run through the sand around sunset. It was fun, and quite a workout. The ocean was pretty rough and there was a lot of seaweed washed up on on the beach. This bit in particular caught my eye as it made a long curve in the wet sand.

__02/21/13__ Saturated Plant
When I first looked at this photo I'd taken, I though "nah, I'll take something better at home" but I didn't. So here it is, in super-saturated colors.

Also, guess what happens in a week! Look at the number of photos in this gallery for some guidance...
