Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

This is an ultra-convex lens on a short-throw projector that I used at work earlier today. I wish I'd been able to get a little better focus, but I'm pretty happy with how the shapes turned out. The original photo did have a very blue tint, but I converted to B&W and added the split toning effect in LR to get this final look.
Tune in tomorrow for another eye-themed photo...

While cleaning up some stuff at work, I came across an old projector lamp and noticed the inside near the base was melted and cool looking, so that's what this is. I think it looks like sea ice.
In case you're unfamiliar, traditional projector lamps are hardcore - they give off incredible heat, have elaborate housings and cost hundreds of dollars. And I'm just talking about a projector for a mid-size classroom. Think about that next time you visit a movie theater...

Alamo Light
This cool film reel lamp was in the Alamo Theater. It's an 18+ theater where you can buy food and drinks right from your seat. There's space in between the stadium seating for your server to walk through and take/deliver your order.
We saw inception, and instead of previews like normal theaters, they showed all sorts of dream and Leonardo DeCaprio-related footage. For example, cheesy commercials starring Leo when he was about 10 years old and more recent ones in Japanese, as well as the music video for Dream Police by Cheap Trick.

Today I got to see a planetarium show, which was fun! I don't know the last time I did that, maybe middle school? Here's a quick and dirty shot of the projector with the dome's curved lines providing the background.
I'm planning to go back - they do public shows every Wednesday followed by telescope viewing. Yay space!

[last year] reminds me I should visit the poppy reserve this year...
