Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_10/14/12_ Go for Jump
After seeing the historic journey of the space shuttle Endeavour last night, I witnessed some more history via streaming 1080p video on my computer. I'm giving a thumbs up as Felix Baumgartner sits on the edge of his capsule at the edge of space, moments before jumping off.
It's impressive that it happened at all, but even more so because I watched it live. Even though the mission is over, it's worth checking out the site. Pretty crazy stuff - www.redbullstratos.com/

_06/14/12_ Red Stools
Today was fun. I worked last Saturday and so I needed to take another day off to make up for it, and I chose today. I played the part of chauffeur and drove my wife around to the various places she goes for her job. The first stop was near the Los Angeles Farmers Market, where I took this shot. I also walked over to the Grove. Both places were pretty fun to visit at 9am on a weekday - hardly anyone around compared to later in the day or the huge weekend crowds.
I also stopped by Samys Camera, where they were having a sale. Yep, I bought something. Something AWESOME. Ok, I'll just tell you - I got a carbon fiber tripod and head! Sadly it wasn't as great of a deal as I originally thought. Compared to full retail price, it was amazing. But compared to what Adorama and B&H would have charged, I only saved about $20 (and I didn't have to wait for shipping). But still, I'm very excited about it, and will probably do a review of some sort on the ol' blog.

_03/26/12_ Blood Orange
This is one of several blood oranges I got from a friend at work! I wish I had my own fruit tree so I could give back, but it's hard to grow anything in our 3x8' concrete patio. Go figure. One day we'll live in a real house with a real yard. One day...
Anyways, I set the orange on a cutting board with black foam board behind it, and set up my softbox on the off-camera flash. Since I got pretty close to the subject, I had to use a pretty small aperture to get it all in focus.

_12/23/11_ Hot Sauce
I got to relax for a bit today, which was nice. I didn't take many photos, though. I grabbed this salsa photo during dinner with the family at Molina's Midway. It's a little on the hot side, but very tasty.

_10/15/11_ Red Tipped
This is a close-up photo of some cool plants, shot with my 1-day-old iPhone 4S. I was going to post a 'Day One with the iPhone 4S' blog post, but I just didn't take enough photos today to justify that. Instead I'll do a 'First Weekend with the iPhone 4S' so stay tuned for that.
The camera is certainly better, but it's not like it blows away the iPhone 4 or anything. I'll do some comparisons later this week.

_10/09/11_ Fruit, Sliced
Anyone have Fruit Ninja on their iPhone/iPod/iPad? It's great fun, definitely worth the $1.
This photo is not in honor of that clever app, however. Instead, it's in honor of me riding my bike to the farmers market, buying too much food, and trying to get it all home safely. It actually wasn't a big deal at all, but I did get a few looks when I was trying to pack it all up.
I sure do like being able to eat my daily photos.

_09/27/11_ Roots
Nothing much to explain, just the root-end of a red onion. Special thanks to my voice-activated light stand wife. She held the softbox over the onion so I was free to hold the camera and not have to set up a tripod.

There were quite a few red telephone booths lying around, but obviously intended for tourists.
