Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Fountain
The Electric Fountain at the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica, which marks the end of the fancy Beverly Hills section. Also, at this point it started pouring rain for quite a while. I kept walking, though, and made it all the way to the Westfield Century City mall before seeking shelter. Of course it stopped raining just a few minutes after that.
2012-03-06 Egg on Slate
I first tried to take a photo of a plant silhouette. Then I put it on some stairs. Then I took away the plant. Then I added back some eggs. You know, cause... why not?
I didn't like the eggs on the stairs, so I brought them inside onto this particularly rippled piece of slate tile. Lit from behind with a reflector in front so the egg wasn't a complete silhouette.

__01/17/12__ Watercolor
This is the building I work in, reflected in a pool out front. The image was rotated, had some contrast added, and some floating debris painted out. Otherwise it's true to the original. Pretty cool-looking if I may say so myself.

Taking advantage of the sun peeking over one of the dunes.
Sand Patterns

Sand dunes are cool to photograph because even in the later morning, the sun will still hit some dunes at a low angle.

_06/28/11_ Vibrations
This may look familiar - I did a similar shot with a fork for my 2/22/10 daily photo. I wanted to do something like this a couple weeks ago, but our garbage disposal broke, and so I wasn't able to get these cool standing waves. Luckily we got it replaced, so I'm back in business. I discovered that if you take a photo *just* after you turn the disposal on you can see that the standing waves actually start from a single point and propagate outwards, that's what you see here.
I do like this photo, but I feel like it might be more interesting with the fork. Thoughts?

_06/08/11_ Rippling
Tonight I played with food coloring in the sink. My first few ideas didn't work AT ALL, but I'm too tired to go into any more detail. This was pretty much the only shot that I liked from the evening. I played with the color and white balance to get what you see here.
