Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Tower Top
On the way back to the dock, I got another shot of Lake Point Tower from a different angle.
Lake Shore Drive
It's hard to believe how many bridges cross the river, and that every single one of them can be raised.
Marina City Patriotism
There's so much going on in the corncob-like Marina City towers, so I focused on whatever I could.
Control Room
Back when it was operational, I guess this is where the controller would sit. They would raise and lower the Chicago & Northwestern Railway Bridge, which is now locked in the 'up' position. Our guide told us that it's a popular spot for wedding/engagement photos.
It's kind of the ultimate in deteriorated industrial icons.
Factory
Because of construction, we weren't able to go down the south branch of the river, so we didn't get to see the Sears/Willis tower from below.
Instead, we went farther up the north branch than we would have otherwise, and we saw a lot of factories and other industrial stuff. Not sure what this one makes.
Hole in the Wall
Love the rust colors.
Cable Crossing
Would you obey a sign like this?
Trump Tower
Here's a more humbling view of the impressive building.
Trump Tower
The newest member of Chicago's skyline - completed in 2009. It's the 2nd tallest building in Chicago - and in the United States.
