Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

2013-05-09 Pink Sky
I was pulled out of my house this evening by a glowing orange sky that then turned more of a pink color. Everything had this great warm glow, and although it's a little bit exaggerated in this photo, I hope I captured the feeling of it. Magic hour, indeed.

2013-04-10 Vehicle in Motion
I made this image out the passenger window of our car around sunset driving down Santa Monica Boulevard. Don't worry, I wasn't driving. It's a blend of 16 images using the Average Camera Pro iPhone app. I recommend the app! It's fun for things like this, but designed so you can get low-noise images in low-light situations (provided you can keep the phone perfectly still).

__01/11/13__ Leaf on Asphalt
Saw this leaf on the bike path as I rode home on this very cold (for LA anyways) afternoon. I got a ways down the path before I told myself "hey Jonathan, it caught your eye, you should go back and take a photo of it" and I did.
Is it some sort of maple leaf? I feel like yes, but I'm not positive.

__01/02/13__ Fading Light
Another so-so iPhone 5 shot. I haven't been able to do a fun comparison like I did with previous iPhone upgrades, but whatever. The iPhone 5's camera doesn't seem remarkably better anyhow.
This was taken about 10 minutes before sunset. If you click Map This, you'll see that this underpass of the 405 has offered many photo opportunities.

In other news, I'm happy to report that I edited and uploaded this photo from my brand new iMac! The last time I got a new computer was on July 7, 2008 and I took a photo of the mouse. It was also an iMac, but this one is so very much better and I like it a lot so far.

_12/30/12_ Sam's Sign Silhouette
Thanks for the comments yesterday. My wife and I got back home to Los Angeles safe and sound.
We took a pit stop in Blythe and I got some photos of this old sign that says "SAM'S". I'm not sure what it is for, but it seems to be gone now.

_12/17/12_ Interchange
A quick shot of a freeway interchange as we headed towards Blythe on our way to Tucson. Edited in Snapseed.

_12/08/12_ East to LA
I took a little trip on my bicycle to downtown Santa Monica to get a freeway photo, and here it is. It's not the most super-exciting freeway photo, so I spiced it up with some editing in Lightroom. Nothing too crazy.

_12/04/12_ Spilled
Some stirrers spilled. Right next to a cigarette carton. Kind funny.
Speaking of cigarettes, why are 90% of smokers total a-holes? I mean, almost every single person I see smoking just tosses their cigarette on the ground. WTF people?
It's like they think it's not littering.
It's like they think it doesn't wash straight into the ocean.
It's like they think it doesn't take more than the rest of their time on this earth to deteriorate.
Anyways. /petpeeve
