Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

__02/18/13__ Coastal Access
Looking up from the bottom of the stairs that go from PCH down to beach, near Deer Creek Road (near Point Mugu). There is a nearby drainage marked "1932" and I'm guessing these stairs were built at the same time. I like the absurd amount of decay in this photo. This is what eighty years of rust looks like.
I spent most of my Presidents Day traveling slowly up the coast to Ventura, where I visited their pier and got dinner in their fun downtown area.

_08/07/12_ Drain
This is/was a storm drain. A good place to get lock jaw, no doubt. Pretty much a desperation shot, but at least it's not quite as desperate as yesterday's.

[last year] don't ya wanna...
_04/17/12_ Free Flow
This piece is a commentary on extremism and our polarized society. There seems to be such little area for compromise, and there's so much fighting back and forth in what appears to be an endless cycle.
Nah, I'm just kidding, it's the end of a pipe snake that we use to clean festering hair clumps from the drain. But still...

While you're here, why not look at some Chicago photos?

_12/31/11_ Sparkler
Happy New Year!
New Year's Eve has been relaxing - a nice, lazy day with my wife. I've never really photographed sparklers before, so this isn't the most inspired photo. Also, I'm pretty sure they're illegal. At least I'm not going around setting cars on fire - apparently there's been a very busy arsonist in Hollywood over the past few nights.

_06/22/11_ Fly Hook
Are you hooked? Then I'd recommend getting a tetanus shot very soon. Cause the hook is rusty. Haha...
This is a fly, for fly fishing. I've been several times, but not for a long time. I was pretty into it, I even had a fly-tying kit for a while! This is not one of them, my flies look terrible and no self-respecting fish would try to eat them.
Speaking of self-respecting fish, check out my new blog post on the 300mm lens I rented two weekends ago! True, it has nothing to do with fish, but check it out anyways!

In other news, this story features a photo of the same guy from my 5/12/11 daily!
