Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_12/02/11_ Ferry Ceiling
If you tilt your head to the left, you'll see the ceiling of the ferry building as I saw it when I took the photo. I like it better in this orientation - more confusing.
Shortly after I took this photo, I got a Blue Bottle iced coffee (omg delish) and then made my way back to SFO from whence I came a few days earlier. The conference was excellent, and I'm glad I got to squeeze in a teensy bit of sight-seeing while I was there.
Maybe one day we'll actually plan a vacation to San Francisco instead of just being there for other things. I realized this was actually my 4th trip to this awesome city, but I've never had more than 1-2 days for sightseeing and I've never had a car during the stay.

Oh, and in case you missed it, check out my Death Valley Photos! Every one of them is geotagged.

_12/01/11_ Saint Ignatius
Happy December! It's almost time to say goodbye to 2011. Crazy.
Today I had an opportunity to visit the University of San Francisco, which is home to the stunning St. Ignatius Church, pictured here. I like this shot because the relationship of the different tower heights as well as the great exposure I got, which was due in large part to the sun reflecting off of light-colored buildings behind me and subtly illuminating the back of the church. This is not HDR.

Also, see more Death Valley Photos, just posted a couple days ago.

_11/30/11_ Dragon Lamp
After a long day of conferencing, a coworker and I headed to Chinatown to get dinner at the fabulous House of Nanking. On the walk back, I grabbed this shot of one of their highly stylized lamps.

In other news, I posted a bunch more Death Valley Photos in their very own gallery. Give 'em a look.

_11/29/11_ Cable Car Cable
Today I traveled to San Francisco for a conference for the rest of the week. I had a few hours to see some sights, so I decided to cross the Cable Car Museum off my list. It was awesome!
So basically there are four cable car lines, and each one has it's own cable that runs underneath the street. The cables run constantly, and the cars just grab onto them when they need to move. The building where the museum is houses the giant motors that keep the cables running. It's pretty incredible to see and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting, especially if you're going to ride the cable cars.
This is the best photo I got from the museum - a closeup of a giant coil of cable. I had no idea, but apparently the cables wear out very quickly and have to be replaced multiple times a year.

Neon Chair
This awesome chair was sitting in a window near a restaurant we went to. Get it? "Sitting"?! No? Ok, sorry.
Fans
People crowded the stage after the interview was over to get photos, shake hands, and generally mob BT.
BT
BT and a guy from Berklee College of Music chat on stage. Later, BT demoed his iPhone app using the projector on the right.
Glowsticks
To get us in the mood to see an awesome electronic composer/musician, they passed out Red Bull and glowsticks before BT came on stage. It was pretty great!
