Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_04/17/12_ Free Flow
This piece is a commentary on extremism and our polarized society. There seems to be such little area for compromise, and there's so much fighting back and forth in what appears to be an endless cycle.
Nah, I'm just kidding, it's the end of a pipe snake that we use to clean festering hair clumps from the drain. But still...

While you're here, why not look at some Chicago photos?

_11/01/11_ Grille
Today I wandered into a stairwell that I'd never been in before. I plan to go back at night to get a photo of it when the lights are on. In the meantime, a quick shot of this air conditioning vent will have to do. Back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.

[last year] that really was a fun day...
_05/23/11_ New Tires
An homage to the stupid five-cent piece of hardware that costs us hundreds of dollars in new tires this morning. Pick up your screws, people. PICK UP YOUR SCREWS!!!

_05/16/11_ Screwer of Corks
Softbox on camera right, white background, macro lens. That's pretty much all there was to it.

_12/27/10_ Curved Saw
Want some oranges? I spent my afternoon picking 4 cubic feet of oranges from my mom-in-law's tree. If that strikes you as an odd way to measure quantity of oranges, it's because I filled up four 1'x1'x1' boxes. When I was done picking I decided to start trimming the tree with the saw pictured here. There's still work to be done, but at least none of the branches are growing into the house.
It felt good doing some hard labor, plus I got to climb around in a tree. Now I'm sore, but it's a good kind of sore.

In other news, Thursday's daily has gone up in the rankings! Please vote for me and help it get even higher! Only takes a few seconds.

_04/07/10_ Apple Screws
We got screwed by Apple. My wife's hard drive crashed in her iBook G4. We're holding out for new models to be released before we get her a replacement.
I spent most of the evening disassembling the laptop, which Apple clearly does not want you to do. It took forever to get to the hard drive, but I finally did and was able to recover her files! Yay!
I kept going and unscrewed every screw I could find - here's a picture of them, arranged beautifully over the Apple logo on the back of the screen. I'm not too happy with the arrangement, but it's so freaking hard to position these tiny things that I gave up for the night.

Back up your files!!!
